What is the fee to participate in the iGeo, and what does it include?

The base fee to participate in the iGeo is $500 per person, in Canadian dollars. This fee includes:

  • Lodging in a double occupancy room* for the nights of July 31, August 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
  • Food:
    • July 31: dinner;
    • August 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5: breakfast, lunch and dinner;
    • August 6: breakfast and lunch.
  • Transportation between the Quebec City International Airport and Laval University's residences on July 30-31 and August 6.
  • All activities related to the iGeo.

*It is possible to change to a single occupancy room for an extra fee of $93 (for a total of $593). It is also possible to upgrade to a superior room for an extra fee of $507 (for a total of $1,007). The number of superior rooms is limited, so please contact us to discuss the possibility of upgrading rooms. Descriptions and pictures of the rooms can be found here.

Can participants stay extra nights before and after the event? If so, what are the rates?

Yes, it is possible to stay extra nights before and after the event*, at the following rates per room (in Canadian dollars, including taxes; breakfast is not included):

  • Standard room:
    • Single occupancy: $44
    • Double occupancy: $56
  • Superior room: $113

Descriptions and pictures of the rooms can be found here. Please note that room reservations will be taken care of by the iGeo Organizing Committee once the completed registration forms have been submitted. Participants must not make room reservations on their own. Payment for these extra nights will be done in advance, at the same time as for payment to participate at iGeo.

Participants will be responsible for their meals during extra days. Many points of service exist on-campus (cafeterias) and off-campus (restaurants).

*Nights covered in the fee to participate in iGeo are July 31, August 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Extra nights are the ones before July 31 and after August 5.

Will transport be provided between Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport and Laval University?

Transportation will be provided between the Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) and Laval University's residences only for the following dates:

  • July 30-31
  • August 6, from 15:00 on (after the iGeo Closing Ceremony).

Is it possible to bring extra adults to iGeo?

No, it is not possible to bring extra adults for iGeo. Only future host countries are elligible to bring extra adults that are considered "Approved Observers" by the iGeo Task Force. There is, however, it is possible family members to be present only for the closing ceremony. More details will be upcoming concerning this last point.

Is it possible to bring an extra adult to the Post-iGeo Excursion?

Yes, it is possible to bring an extra adult to the Post-iGeo Excursion for a supplemental fee only if this person is related to an approved iGeo participant. The extra adult would be responsible for booking their own accommodation if they are arriving prior to the departure date for the Post-Excursion on August 7 at 8:30. As stated in the answer to the question above, we are unable to include an extra adult in any of the iGeo 2018 activities, unless they are an Approved Observer.

Places are limited for the Excursion and priority is given to iGeo participants, so please contact us to discuss the possibility of bringing an extra adult.
